Fransico Bizimana in hood has put government's proclaimed democracy on edge! |
His name is Francisco Bizimana commonly known as Franco in security circles.
While government has feigned ignorance about the identity of the man, sources in the military say he is attached to the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI).
A Rwandese by nationality, Bizimana worked in fallen Rwanda president's government Habyarimana as military spy.
He was later incorporated into Uganda's army shortly after the 1994 genocide. He is attached to Special Operations desk.
Moments after hitting Besigye's car and losing grip of the hammer, Bizimana fled back to the neighbouring CMI hedquarters in Kitante, just a few yards from Mulago round-about where Besigye was blocked by police from driving to the city centre.
Sources reveal Bizimana entered Uganda in September 2009 after a series of mission in Congo where he was stationed.
The hooded man drama has put government and media on a collision course with the former threatening tough action against media houses that boldly published the sensational pictures.
However, it appears President Museveni was told a lie that it's Besigye who carried the hammer, even in the face of bold pictures showing Bizimana crashing the windscreen.
Being misled, Museveni confidently told Kenya businessmen during a conference days later that Besigye had used the hammer and pepper spray to attack police.
Those who comprehend Museveni' s instinct say he could take action against those who misled him into believing their lies, thus embarrassing him before the world.
